This is part of the story of Matthew Taylor Wuertz , who held many of our same dreams and desires. He wrestled with many of the challenges we face. He strived. He persevered. He failed. He loved. Then he’d try again. He knew all about his heroin addiction, he also forgot about it. Sometimes, he just wanted a break from it all. He was just a human being – struggling as we all do. Being an addict meant Matt’s life swung between two extremes. Every drug-free day held the light of hope, as well as the battle against constant craving. When he fell, the darkness sheltered him and the drug numbed his pain – until it wore off. At times Matt dreamed of getting well enough to tell his story to help others someday. Somehow. Some way. We who loved him shared in his dreams then – and now. There are not enough words, photos or pages to encompass the whole of Matthew Taylor Wuertz. But still we try.
